“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. ”
Preparing for your Revelation Breathwork Session
Thank you for booking your Revelation Breathwork session with me, Melyssa, the owner and facilitator of Compass of Compassion. To ensure you get the most out of our upcoming appointment, I've compiled a list of considerations for you to review before we meet. These steps will help prepare you for your breathing experience.
What to Expect from Your Session
Revelation Breathwork is an active breathing technique designed to help release stress, emotional blocks, and stored energy. Through guided breath patterns, you may experience a range of sensations, emotions, and insights. Each session is unique and the most helpful approach is to remain open and trust what shows up or makes it’s self known.
How to Prepare for Your Session
1. Set an Intention
Before your session, take a few moments to reflect on what you’d like to receive from this experience. You don’t need to have a specific goal, but setting an intention can help inform your session. Some examples:
• “I release (an emotion, experience, expectations, etc).”
• “I am open to ___________.”
• “I am seeking clarity in ___________ area of my life.”
• “I would like an answer to ___________.”
2. Choose a Comfortable Space
• For In-Person Sessions: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for deep breathing. The session will take place in a quiet, energetically supportive space.
• For Online Sessions: Find a quiet, distraction-free space where you can lie down comfortably on a yoga mat, bed, or couch. You may find a blanket, using an eye mask, or dimming the lights can enhance relaxation. Some people bring a pillow to yell into if you decide to participate in that portion of the experience.
3. Hydrate & Nourish Your Body
• Drink plenty of water before and after the session to help with energy flow.
• Eat a light meal 2 hours before your session. A full stomach may make deep breathing uncomfortable, while an empty stomach may leave you feeling lightheaded.
4. Prepare Supportive Items
For Both In-Person & Online Sessions:
• A blanket in case you feel cold during breathwork.
• A bolster under your knees for comfort.
• A journal to record any insights, feelings, or messages after your session.
• An eye mask to create a more tuned in experience.
• Headphones (for online sessions) to immerse yourself fully in the guided breathwork and music experience.
5. Manage Your Schedule
• Plan for some quiet integration time after your session. You may feel energized, emotional, or deeply relaxed. Give yourself space to process whatever arises.
• Avoid scheduling anything mentally or physically intense immediately after the session if possible.
During the Session
• Breathe - belly, chest, exhale. You may feel tingling, emotional shifts, or even physical sensations as energy moves—this is normal.
• Emotions may arise. If you feel overwhelmed, return to a slower steady breath and allow yourself to process without judgment.
• You are always in control. If at any point you need to slow down, modify your breathing, or take a break, that is completely okay.
After the Session: Integration & Self-Care
• Drink water to stay hydrated and help your body process any energetic shifts.
• Move gently—stretching, walking, or light movement can help integrate the experience.
• Rest if needed—some people feel deeply relaxed or even tired afterward. Listen to your body.
• Journal about your experience. What thoughts, emotions, or insights came up? Even if they don’t make sense immediately, writing them down can help with clarity later.
• Avoid alcohol, heavy drugs, stimulants, or large meals for a few hours after the session to allow your body and nervous system to fully integrate the experience.
